A few years ago I wrote up my lessons learned from Christmas because there were some things I wanted to remember. For example:

  • We had enough Christmas cards and didn’t buy more. (This was important because if my husband gets near the Thames Hospice shop we will suddenly have 40 more Christmas cards. We don’t even send that many)
  • The garnish pack (Marks and Spencers pack of pigs in blankets and stuffing balls) needs to cook twice as long as it says if you use the top oven which you will because there’s so much stuff.

So in the hazy days between Christmas and New Year I popped on Google Docs and created a “Lessons learned from Christmas” document. Shared with my husband so that he can contribute.

I would highly recommend taking a little time to do this on your cloud based document storage of your choice (I think the iOS notes app would work well).

In case it helps these are my headings:

  • Food
  • Cooking
  • Set up
  • Timings
  • Cards and wrapping
  • Shopping list (this is in addition to the order we will inevitably place from M&S)

It might seem a bit of a hassle but December you will thank January you.
